William Gene Morrow, 78, of Joy, Illinois died Tuesday, January 8, 2008 at Trinity Medical Center, West Campus, Rock Island. Visitation is 9:00 - 10:45 a.m. Saturday, January 12 at Joy United Methodist Church with the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in Peniel Cemetery, Joy, Illinois. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left for Joy United Methodist Church. Dennison Funeral Home, Aledo is handling arrangements. William Gene Morrow was born on October 13, 1929 in Monmouth, Illinois the son of Lawrence Warwick and Lillian Irene Epperly Morrow. He attended the Joy schools graduating in 1947. He attended Knox College where he was in symphonetta, the TKE Fraternity and ROTC. A 1951 graduate, he then served in the 28th Division of the U.S. Army with the occupational forces in Europe from 1951-1953. He married Shirley Kenney in 1951 and after returning from Europe the settled in Joy. From 1954-2000 he was owner/operator of the Joy Feed Mill. He was a member of the Joy United Methodist Church, New Boston Masonic Lodge #59 A.F. & A.M., Regional Board of Education, Vashti Village, Peniel Cemetery Association and the Joy Military Band. Survivors include his wife, Shirley of Joy; sister, Edys McIntosh of Placentia, CA; son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Tricia of Boston, MA; three grandchildren, Michaela, Anna and Nicholas and six nephews and a niece. He was preceded in death by his parents.
