Wanda M. Evans, 68, of Matherville, Illinois died Monday, October 17, 2011 at Mercer County Nursing Home, Aledo. Visitation is 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. Thursday, October 20, 2011 at Dennison Funeral Home, Viola. Funeral services are 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 21, 2011 at Dennison Funeral Home, Viola. Burial will be in Farlow Grove Cemetery, Matherville. Memorial may be left for the family. Wanda was born February 18, 1943 in Aledo, a daughter of Robert L. and Opal Fender Fowler. For two years she owned Country Folks Inn, Viola. She retired from the Mercer County Nursing Home Housekeeping Dept. Wanda loved to cook and was famous for her potato salad and cole slaw. Quilting, crocheting, gardening and playing cards kept her busy. She was a member of the Viola United Presbyterian Church. Those left to cherish her memory are her three daughters: Annette (Dan Matkovic) Hamilton, Melody Evans and Angie (Brian) Mills all of Matherville; son: Curt (Brooke Hofer) Evans, Sherrard; 9 grandchildren, Billy Evans, Abbie Hamilton, Amy Hamilton, Shalana Evans, Jessie Lamberson, Reanna Lamberson, Zach Evans, Aaron Evans and Cole Evans; 10 great grandchildren; brothers, Gene (Judy) Fowler, Andalusia and Dick (Paula) Fowler, Bull Shoals, AR; brother-in-law: Richard Whittington and sister-in-law: Ruth Fowler both of Viola. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Mary Lou Whittington, infant sister Joyce Fowler and brothers, Bob and Dwayne Fowler.
