Walter E. Rambo, 90, of rural Aledo, Illinois died Saturday, July 9, 2022 at home.

Per his wishes, cremation has been accorded and there are no services.  Memorials may be directed to the family.  Dennison Funeral Home, Viola is assisting the family.

Walter Evans Rambo was born March 4, 1932 in Houston, Mississippi a son of James Roy and Essie Criddle Rambo.  On January 2, 1954 he married Margaret Miller in Rock Island.  Walter was a welder at International Harvester for 30 years, retiring in 1984.  He was a lifelong farmer and avid hunter and fisherman.  After retirement he volunteered driving veterans back and forth to Iowa City.  He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and NRA.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 68 years, Margaret Lee Rambo of Aledo; children:  Jeannie Seitz of Collins, Iowa, Curtis Rambo of Aledo, and Shirley (Todd) Roth of Reynolds; grandchildren:  Trisha (Anthony) Kirkegaard, Alissa (Ryan) Espe, Evan (Amy) Wendell, Jennifer (John) Flesher, Celina (Neil) Roth, and Samantha (Zeke) Snyder; great grandchildren:  Kara, Keelie, Aiden, and Everett; sisters:  Sally Barneske and Della Evans; as well as special friends:  Mike Johnson and Leonard Larkins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son:  Michael, grandson:  Travis Seitz, and brothers:  Harvey, Johnny, and William Roy.

The family would like to extend a special “thank you” to Walter and Margaret’s caregivers, Patty, Heidi, Nicole, Jane, Kim, Brenda, and Stephanie.
