Virginia Stewart

Virginia E. Stewart, 86, of Keithsburg, died Wednesday, March 24, 2010, at Aledo Health & Rehab Center. Services are 1 p.m. Saturday, March 27, at First Christian Church, Keithsburg. Burial is at Greenmound Cemetery, Keithsburg. Visitation is 11 a.m.-1 p.m. prior to the service. Dennison Funeral Home, Aledo, is handling arrangements. Memorials may be made to Keithsburg Volunteer Fire Department & Ambulance Service. She was born Oct. 31, 1923, in Eagle Rock, W.Va., the daughter of Norman and Iva Simmons Pullen. She married John Stewart on Oct. 20, 1946, in Aledo. He preceded her in death April 17, 1992. Virginia first worked at the Button Factory in Keithsburg. She later worked on the production line, and was a tool room attendant at Cannon Bronze Factory in Keithsburg for 40 years. Her many interests included traveling with her husband, John, especially to Branson, Mo. She also enjoyed taking the grandkids on trips, working with her friends at the factory, and was an avid Cubs fan. Survivors (and spouses) include her son, Jim and Cindy Stewart, Keithsburg; four grandchildren, Kim (Chris) DeFrieze, Kerrie Downey, Sabrina (TJ) Harrison, Nikki Stewart and fiance, Mike McIntyre; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; two stepsons, John Wm. (Mary) Stewart, Gene (Marna) Stewart, both of Keithsburg; 14 stepgrandchildren; four stepgreat-grandchildren; two sisters, Norma Tippie, Keithsburg, Melba Spradley, Davenport; and many nieces and nephews.
