Virginia Novak, 94, of Andalusia, Illinois died Monday, February 16, 2015 at Aledo Rehab and Health Care Center.
Graveside services are 1:00 p.m. Thursday, February 26, 2015 at Pine Grove Cemetery, Wausau, WI. A memorial service will be held 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 10 th at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Rock Island, IL. Memorials may be left Immanuel Lutheran Church or American Cancer Society. Dennison Funeral Home, Aledo is assisting the family.
Virginia was born April 27, 1920 in Wausau, WI a daughter of Robert and Nina Bickman Ohm. She married Frank Novak on November 11, 1944 in Wausau. In her early years, she was secretary for Dr. Wilson in Wausau then she worked and later retired from Rock Island Arsenal as a computer specialist. She was a member of St. Stephen Lutheran Church, Wausau and Immanuel Lutheran Church, Rock Island. Virginia had been active with Girl Scouts for many years. She loved to crochet and knit. She was well known as a math whiz and was an accomplished violinist, even playing with the Wausau Symphony Orchestra.
Survivors include her daughter, Frankie Ford, East Moline, IL; grandchildren, Jon Ford and Marsha (Charles) Novak Eatough; sister, Margaret Oleinick, Rhinelander, WI and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband in 1980, daughter Patricia Tedford, son Darrell Novak and siblings Robert Ohm, Henry Ohm, Harvey Ohm and Nina Graminski.
