Violet Malcom

Violet J. Malcom, 73, of Keithsburg, Illinois was surrounded by family as she passed away on Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at Genesis Medical Center, Aledo.

Funeral services are 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 12th at First Christian Church, Keithsburg.  Burial will be in New Boston Cemetery.  Visitation is 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Friday, May 11th at First Christian Church, Keithsburg.  Memorials may be left for the family.  Dennison Funeral Home, Aledo is handling arrangements.

Violet Jean was born March 4, 1945 in Muscatine, Iowa a daughter of Carl and Marie Cooley Nelson.  In October of 1972 she married Harry Malcom, they later divorced.  They ran the Hi-Way Tap in Keithsburg for several years.  In her free time, she enjoyed Facebooking.  She was known for throwing wonderful Christmas parties.  Her greatest joy was spending time with family, especially her grandkids.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children:  Trisha (Paul) Long of New Boston, IL, Tracy (Tara) Nelson of Keithsburg, IL and Tammy Chism of Keithsburg, IL; grandchildren:  Justin (Jacquie) Long, Ginger (Tyler) West, Jennifer (Corey) Hardin, Jillian (Sheldon) Defrieze, Danielle Nelson, Austin (Shayli) Chism and Alexa Chism; 14 great grandchildren and brothers:  Jim Nelson of Keithsburg, IL, Gerald Nelson of Keithsburg, IL and Doug (Nancy) Nelson of New Boston.

She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings:  Carolyn Russell, Ronnie Nelson and Mike Nelson.
