Veryle Bruner, 93, of Keithsburg, died Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2007, at Mercer County Hospital, Aledo. Services will be 3 p.m. Saturday, March 3, at First Christian Church, Keithsburg. Burial will be in Greenmound Cemetery, Keithsburg. Visitation will be 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at the church. Dennison Funeral Home, Aledo, is handling arrangements. Memorials may be made to Eliza Community Center or Mercer County Nursing Home. She was born May 27, 1913, in Gerlaw, Ill., daughter of Glenn and Ruby Bowen Young. She married Harrison Bruner Dec. 23, 1938, in Gerlaw. He died July 19, 1988. She graduated from Alexis High School and also Western Illinois University. She taught at the Eliza School and retired from Westmer School District in 1980 after 30-plus years as a teacher and principal. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles and playing cards. She was a member of the Retired Teachers Association. Survivors include six sons and spouses, Neil and Heidi Bruner, Burlington, Iowa, Bill and Peg Bruner, New Boston, Mike and Julia Bruner, Christ Church, New Zealand, Pat and Libby Bruner, Joy, Dan Bruner, Andulusia, Chuck and Martha Bruner, Fairfax, Va.; 15 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Vada Carlson, Lois Johnson, Marilyn Ross. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers and one sister.
