Stata M. Lancaster, 81, of Viola, died Sunday, March 15, 2009, at Genesis Medical Center, Illini Campus, Silvis. Services are 11 a.m. Thursday, March 19, at Dennison Funeral Home, Viola. Burial is at Viola Cemetery. Visitation is 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Viola Fire Department. She was born April 26, 1927, in Aledo, to Logan "Pinky" and Eva Vance Bigham. She married Joe Lancaster on Oct. 27, 1955, in Viola. Stata had worked at several places, including Glen Moffitt's antique shop and Bobbie's Hallmark shop in Viola. She also had worked as a waitress at Dan-dee Lunch and as a hostess at Hap's Family Restaurant, both in Viola. Stata enjoyed bingo, ceramics, antiques, and going to the gambling boats. Survivors include her husband, Joe, Viola; son, Jamie (Kim) Lancaster, Ballwin, Mo.; two grandchildren, Christopher and Kirsten Lancaster. She was preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Doris Fullerton.
