Ruth McAtee

Ruth McAtee, 94, of Viola, Illinois died Sunday, February 5, 2012 at Mercer County Nursing Home, Aledo. Funeral services are 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 10, 2012 at Viola United Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in Viola Cemetery. Visitation is 4:00 - 7:00 Thursday, February 9, 2012 at Dennison Funeral Home, Viola. Memorials may be left for Viola United Presbyterian Church or Viola Fire Department. Ruth was born July 18, 1917 in Davenport, Iowa to Rev. Frank and Elizabeth Allen McLean. On May 30, 1938 she married Herbert E. McAtee in Coulterville, IL. He preceded her in death in 1989. She retired from the Rock Island Arsenal in 1979. Ruth was a member of the Viola United Presbyterian Church where she served as an elder, deacon, and church organist for more than 30 years. Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Herb (Eva) McAtee, Plymouth, MN, Beth (Don) Simpson, Geneseo, IL, Kay (Rich) Luxmore, Sherrard, IL and Glenn (Sande) McAtee, Viola, IL; 8 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
