Rose Ann Eggen, 77, of Joy, Illinois died Friday, November 6, 2015 at Genesis Senior Living, Aledo.
Funeral services are 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 10th at Dennison Funeral Home, Aledo with visitation prior to the service, from 12:30 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. Memorials may be left for
Mercer County 4-H or Unity Point Hospice.
Rose was born August 17, 1938 in Millersburg Township, Illinois a daughter of Carl Sr. and Zeola Bice Dixon. She graduated from Joy High School. On April 5, 1957, she married James Eggen in Joy, IL. She was a farm wife and homemaker. Rose was a member of the Illinois City Saddle Club, where she performed with the horseback square dance team and drill team. She and Jim loved horses; they went trail riding, competed in rodeos and raised registered quarter horses. They also performed around the area in a country music band for several years. Rose was "famous" for raising all kinds of animals on the farm...from horses and goats to llamas and geese, to name a few. She also enjoyed doing ceramics and quilting.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 58 years, Jim Eggen, Joy, IL; daughters: Sherie (Scott) Thorndike, Joy, IL, Sharon (Randy) Coopman, New Windsor, IL and Becky (Rick) Schulte, St. Rose, IL; 7 grandchildren; 1 great granddaughter; and siblings: Dorothy Anderson, Vernon Dixon, Kenny Dixon, Charlie Dixon and Gary Dixon.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Marilyn Dixon and brothers Carl Dixon, Jr. and Richard Dixon.
