Robert W. Hedger, Sr.

Robert W. Hedger Sr., 71, of Viola, died Thursday, Nov. 3, 2011, at Mercer County Hospital, Aledo. Visitation is 1:00 to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 8 followed by the funeral at 4 p.m. at Dennison Funeral Home, Viola. A luncheon will follow at Viola United Presbyterian Church. A private burial will be held at a later date. Memorials may be left for the care of his wife, Marlene. He was born July 2, 1940, in Aledo, a son of Ernest and Lena Boughton Hedger. He married Marilyn Marlene Steadman on July 26, 1959, in Aledo. Bob worked at Case IH for many years, even after his retirement. He had been Greene Township Road Commissioner along with having many odd jobs and helping farmers. He was an avid fisherman. Bob loved hunting, farming, stock car races and spending time with family and friends. Survivors include his wife, Marlene Hedger, Viola; daughters (spouses), Lori L. Greer, Viola, and Jody M. (Jeff Tunnell) Baraks, West Branch, Iowa; son, Robert W. Hedger, Jr., West Branch; six grandchildren, Kristi (Jeff Maher), Joshua, Ashley, Trevor, DeAnna and Darla; three great-grandchildren; sister, Ruby Elas, Kewanee; brothers, Kenny, Viola, Buck, Viola, and Dick, Colorado Springs, Colo. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandson, Jarrod M. Hedger.
