Robert Crose, 93, of Aledo, formerly of Keithsburg, died Friday, July 10, 2009, at Mercer County Nursing Home, Aledo. Services are 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 14, at Keithsburg First Christian Church. Burial is at Greenmound Cemetery, Keithsburg, with military rites conducted by Mercer County V.F.W. Post 1571. Visitation is 5-7 p.m. Monday, July 13, at Keithsburg First Christian Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left for the church. Dennison Funeral Home, Aledo, is handling arrangements. He was born July 21, 1915, in Keithsburg, son of Jefferson Delaney and Lucy Schellenberg Crose. He married Beryl Katherine Barnhouse on Feb. 19, 1942, in Keithsburg. Mr. Crose was a bridge tender for M & St L and Chicago Northwestern Railroads. He also was a carpenter and commercial fisherman. He served in World War II European Theater, First Army, 9th Division, Germany, and was wounded in December 1944. Bob was an avid fisherman and hunter. He was a member of the Keithsburg First Christian Church, D.A.V. (Disabled American Veterans) and a former member of Mercer County VFW. Survivors include his wife, Beryl Crose, Aledo; daughter and spouse, Kathryn Ann and Lloyd Willits, Farmington, N.M.; sons and spouses, William Robert and Mary Crose, New Boston, and Randall Thomas and Lorrie Crose, Aledo; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren; sister, Eva Ruckle, Florida; and brother, Fred Crose, Utah. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Ronald Alan Crose; brothers, Ivan, Justin and Ernest; and sister, Barbara.
