Ricky A. Bruce “Gainey”, 50, of Viola, Illinois died Sunday, March 24, 2013 at Genesis Medical Center, Aledo.
Funeral services are 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 28, 2013 at St. John’s Catholic Church, Viola. Burial will be in Viola Cemetery. Visitation is Wednesday, March 27th from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Dennison Funeral Home, Viola. A memorial fund has been established.
Ricky was born September 27, 1962 in Moline, Illinois a son of Edward and Jean Christine Bruce. He graduated from Sherrard High School via Black Hawk Area Education Center. Ricky worked at the Milkhouse Diner, Viola and attended St. John’s Church. He was a die-hard Cubs, Bears and Illini fan.
Survivors include his mother: Jean (Gene) Gainey, Viola; father: Ed (Geraldine) Bruce, Orion; sisters: Terry (Gary) Thompson, Viola, Debra Fowler, Galesburg and Sandra (Mark) Larson, Lynn Center; brothers: Kent (Ginger) Gainey, Colorado, Keith (Pam) Gainey, North Carolina, Rick (Donna) Ratliff, Moline and Michael (Tessa) Gainey, Davenport; grandmother: Margaret Imel, Hope Creek Care Center; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his other grandparents.
