Richard "Dick" Davis

Richard "Dick" L. Davis, 77, of Keithsburg, died Wednesday, Sept. 22, 2010, at his home. Services are 3 p.m., with visitation from 1 to 3 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 25, at Keithsburg First Christian Church. Burial is at Greenmound Cemetery, Keithsburg. Dennison Funeral Home, Aledo, is handling arrangements. Memorials may be made to First Christian Church or Henderson County Hospice. He was born Nov. 22, 1932, in Keithsburg, the son of Roy E. and LaVella M. Smith Davis. Dick worked at JI Case, Bettendorf, for 30 years, retiring in 1981. He loved baseball, especially watching his beloved Cleveland Indians and attending Burlington Bees' games. Dick enjoyed building model airplanes. As an outdoorsman, he liked to hunt and fish, even trying his hand at commercial fishing for several years. He was a member of Keithsburg First Christian Church and Keithsburg Boat Club. Survivors include his sister, Shirley Coppes, Keithsburg; brother, Gary Davis, New Boston; several nieces and nephews; four special great-nieces and great-nephews, Alexandra and Austin Hills and Hannah and Hayden Johnson; and his special friends in the family section at the Burlington Bees' ballpark. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Robert; and brother-in-law, Loren Coppes.
