Richard "Rich" Skiles, 66, of Viola, died Friday, Dec. 25, 2009, at Mercer County Hospital, Aledo. Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 30, at Dennison Funeral Home, Viola. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 29, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the family. He was born Dec. 11, 1943, in Schuyler County, Ill., the son of Allen and Marjorie Trone Skiles. He married Dianne Smith on May 13, 1988, in Davenport. Rich was a truck driver for Mack Trucking, Viola, for over 20 years. His many interests included fishing, hunting, golfing, throwing horseshoes, watching NASCAR and football, and following the kids' sporting events. He was a former member of Swedona Lutheran Church. Survivors include his wife, Dianne Skiles, Viola; seven daughters, Rhonda Skiles, East Moline, Stacie Kolb, Gerlaw, Sherry Skiles, Buffalo Prairie, Crystal Peterson, Reynolds, Jamie Conner, Seattle, Wash., Brandy Mangels, Durant, and Kathy Bruce, Viola; five sons, Richard Carl Skiles, Cambridge, Sean Minear, Milan, Kevin Kolb, Rock Island, Jamie Metal, Milan and Jody Skiles, Viola; 19 grandchildren; three sisters, Pat Grafton, Colona, Sandy Parks, Colona, and Helen Chenoweth, Las Vegas; four brothers, Larry Skiles, Orion, Steve Chenoweth, Bishop Hill, Rondell Chenoweth, Port Byron, and Ronnie Blagdon, Port Byron. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister.
