Ethel “Peanuts” Vandevort, 78 of Keithsburg, Illinois died Sunday, September 29, 2013 at Aledo Rehab & Health Care.
Memorial services are 11:00 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 3, 2013 at Keithsburg First Christian Church. Visitation will be Wednesday, Oct. 2nd from 5 – 7 p.m. at the church. Burial will be in Greenmound Cemetery, Keithsburg. Memorials may be left for Bridges at Aledo Rehab or the church. Online condolences may be left at www.dennisonfuneralhome.com.
Peanuts was born January 17, 1935 in Keithsburg, a daughter of True Clinton and Pearl Mable Harris Brown. She graduated from Keithsburg High School, where she received the DAR award and graduated as salutatorian. On February 2, 1957 she married Billy Vandevort, he died Aug. 2005. Peanuts retired from Cannon Bronze in Keithsburg. Additionally, she was the Keithsburg Township Assessor for many years and served on the 708 Board Mercer County. Peanuts was an avid bowler and talented softball player. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her sisters.
Those left to cherish her memory are her sisters: Ruth Dennison, Keithsburg, Shirley Litwiler, Aledo, Jerry Nylin, Keithsburg, Connie Freeman, Aledo and Marsha Loving, Aledo and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and siblings – Fern, Lilly, Deanna, Deke, Leslie, Bev, Janet, Clifford, Jackie, Larry, Donna and Dorothy.
