Orville L. Roesner, 80, formerly of Alpha, Illinois died Monday, December 3, 2007 at Mercer County Nursing Home, Aledo, Illinois. Visitation will be Wednesday, December 5th from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Dennison Funeral Home, Viola, Illinois. Funeral services are 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 6th at Dennison Funeral Home, Viola. Following a luncheon, burial will be in Dayton Cemetery, Colona, Illinois. Memorials may be left for Red Cross Fire Relief Fund or Mercer County Nursing Home. Orville Leonard Roesner was born December 31, 1926 to Leonard and Ruby (Sten) Roesner in Edford Township, Illinois. He graduated from Geneseo High School and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, receiving the purple heart. He married Mary Wright in 1954, they later divorced. Orville farmed all his life. He was a fan of the St. Louis Cardinals, NASCAR and Jeff Gordon, enjoyed auctions and like to share a joke. In 1946, he was part of the 4H state champion softball team. He was a faithful blood donor, reaching the 56 unit mark when ill health arose. He is survived by children; Stan (Sue) Roesner, Geneseo, Lori (Dave) Bruning, Matherville, Julie (Mike)Fowler, Illinois City, Holly (Dave) Carlson, Matherville and MaryKae (Mike) Cameron, Altona; 15 grandchildren, 1 step grandchild, 8 great grandchildren, 1 step great grandchild and sister, Betty (Dennis) Kelley, Green River.
