Myrtle McClure, age 88 of Viola, Illinois passed away Friday, December 29, 2006 at Mercer County Hospital, Aledo. Funeral services are 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 2 at Dennison Funeral Home, Viola. Burial will be in Viola Cemetery. Visitation is Monday, January 1 from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Dennison Funeral Home, Viola. In lieu of flowers, memorial may be left for Viola United Presbyterian Church or Viola Volunteer Fire Department. Myrtle was born April 12, 1918 in Andover Township, Illinois, the daughter of John and Anna Harshman Bloom. She attended rural grade school and Altona High School. She married Ellsworth McClure on November 22, 1941 in Kahoka, MO. They farmed in the Rio area until 1945 when they moved North of Viola to continue farming. In 1978, they retired and moved into Viola. She was a member of the Viola United Presbyterian Church where she had served as an elder and Sunday School Teacher. She worked at the Winola Cafeteria. She belonged to the Viola Day Home Extension for 30 years and served on the board one year. She also was a member of the Granny Craft Club in Viola, she loved crafts. Myrtle loved square dancing, camping and going to Texas for the winter. She loved her family, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Survivors include her husband, Ellsworth McClure of Viola; daughters, Janice (John) Pollock and Sharon (Gary) Esslinger all of Viola; grandchildren, John Pollock, Kimberly Kness, Lori Nelson, Anji Wilson and Mindi Schultz and 15 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, 5 brothers and 6 sisters.
