Mickie VanVooren

Mickie M. VanVooren, 58, of Aledo, Illinois died Wednesday, June 15, 2022 at Aledo Rehab and Health Care.

Cremation has been accorded.  A memorial visitation is Tuesday, June 21st from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Dennison Funeral Home, Viola.  There are no services.  The family request that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Quad City Animal Welfare Center or to Michael VanVooren to assist with costs.

Mickie was born September 11, 1963 in Rock Island, the daughter of Franklin “Mick” and Sandra Brown McMeekan.  She graduated from Winola High School in 1981.  On June 23, 1984, she married Michael VanVooren in Viola.  Mickie loved rescuing senior dogs, spending time with her grandkids, and flower gardening.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband:  Mike of Aledo; children:  Khole VanVooren of Aledo, Ashlee (Christopher) Ehlers of Joy, and Kassi (Adicuse) Battin of Aledo; grandchildren:  Kairi, Zoe, Mick, Liara, Silas, Olivia, and Lucien; sisters:  Marla Welch and Marji Kehoe, both of Viola; brother:  Ronnie Miller of Matherville; as well as her dad:  Franklin “Mick” (Janet) McMeekan.

She was preceded in death by her mom:  Sandy McMeekan.
