Michael A. Kness, 61, of New Windsor, Illinois died Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at CGH Medical Center, Sterling, Illinois.
Funeral services are 1:00 p.m. on Monday, October 16th at Dennison Funeral Home, Viola. Burial will be in Hopewell Cemetery, New Windsor. Visitation is Sunday, October 15th from 2:00 – 5:00 p.m. at Dennison Funeral Home, Viola.
Memorials may be left for the family.
Michael was born June 8, 1956 in Galesburg, Illinois a son of L. Patrick and Marsha Kingery Kness. On Nov. 12, 1983, he married Kimberly A. Masters in Viola. He and his brother, Steve, owned and operated Kness Trucking. He was a lifelong truck driver who loved the open road. Over the years he had drove truck for Gary Dellitt, WW Transport, Inc. and currently driving for Crossroads/MPC Transportation. Mike enjoyed watching Westerns, John Wayne Movies, Gunsmoke and Frasier; seeing each show 100’s of times. He enjoyed golfing, co-ed softball, playing the quarter slots and reading Tom Clancy and James Patterson books. Mike was an avid Cubs and Bears fan. His greatest joy was spending time with family; especially spending time with his grandkids and going to his grandson’s sporting events.
Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Kim Kness; children: Jonathon (Karen) Kness, Amanda Kness and Cassandra Kness; grandchildren: Marcellus, Aryanna and Ainsley; brothers: Steven (Kim) Kness, Timothy (Cecilia) Kness and Matthew (Krista) Kness; sisters: Laurie (Tom) Fobert, Jennifer (Steven) Rosales and Sarah (Raymond) Inman; mother-in-law: Fran Masters (Eldon Nichols); aunt: Jean Corr; and 11 nieces and nephews, 7 great nieces and nephews and many cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and son: Brice Kness.
