Mayme "Irene" Brobst

Mayme "Irene" Brobst, 83, of Moline, died Friday, Nov. 7, 2008, at Trinity Medical Center, West Campus, Rock Island. Graveside services are 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 11, at Viola Cemetery. Visitation is noon to 2 p.m. Tuesday at Dennison Funeral Home, Viola. Memorials may be made to the family. She was born July 3, 1925, in Somerset, Ill., the daughter of Amer and Gladys Ewell Pyles. She married Alfred Brobst in 1947, in Somerset. Irene worked as a seamstress for Seaford Clothing Co., Rock Island, for many years. She enjoyed playing bingo and in her early years bowling. Survivors include her two daughters, Ellen Schnell, Coal Valley, and Brenda Gilbert, Alpha; one son (and spouse), Everett (Cindy) Brobst, Whorton, Texas; 12 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and one sister, Flora Mattingly, Viola. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and a daughter, Linda Brocksieck.
