Mary Lou Wherry

MaryLou A. Wherry, 77, of Viola, Illinois died Friday, October 12, 2012 at Trinity Rock Island.

Visitation is Sunday, October 21, 2012 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. at Dennison Funeral Home, Viola.  Memorials may be left for the Viola Library.  Per her wishes, there are no services.

MaryLou was born July 30, 1935 in Milan, Illinois, a daughter of Calvin and Ruth Sweely Minteer.  She graduated from Blackhawk College with a nursing degree.  Her nursing career was spent at Franciscan Hospital in Rock Island for 12 years then Palos Heights Hospital for 10 years.

She was an avid reader and world traveler.  MaryLou was a member of the Friends of Viola Library.

Survivors include her sons, Mike Wherry, Viola, Illinois and James Wherry, Fairbanks, Alaska; grandchildren, Michael Wherry and Jade Macharrie and her brother, Calvin Minteer, Alpha.

She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Connie Minteer.
