Marie M. Johnson, 93, of Aledo, Illinois died Friday, November 2, 2012 at Mercer County Nursing Home, Aledo.
Graveside services are 10:00 a.m. Thursday, November 8, 2012 at Viola Cemetery with graveside rites by Mercer County V.F.W. Post 1571 Auxiliary. Memorials may be left for Mercer County Nursing Home or M.A.D.D. Dennison Funeral Home, Viola is handling arrangements.
Marie was born December 6, 1918 in Viola, Illinois a daughter of George and Bertha Bolt Morey. On July 11, 1942 in Aledo, she married R. Wayne Duncan. She married Fred Johnson on December 28, 1985 in Galesburg, he preceded her in death. Marie was a Unit Secretary at St. Anthony’s Hospital, Franciscan Hospital and retiring from Mercer County Hospital. She was a current member of Mercer County V.F.W. Post 1571 Auxiliary and M.A.D.D. Marie had an interest in genealogy and enjoyed collecting pheasants, covered bridges and strawberries. “Grandma Pepper” loved babysitting her grandchildren when they were younger.
She is survived by her children, Sandra Lantau, Aledo and Richard (Ginnie) Duncan, Hamlet; grandchildren, Todd (Debbie) Lantau, Andalusia, Devin Lantau, Moline, Levi (Jessica) Duncan, Sherrills Ford, NC and Brandi Lewis, Moorseville, NC and great grandchildren, Crystal, Rachel and Shelby Lantau and Jacob and Lexi Duncan.
She was preceded in death by all her siblings, Marjorie Morey, Alice Sheldon, Mildred Buban, Dorothy Stratton, Betty Cavanah and George Davison.
