Marguerite A. Nelson, 88, of Joy, Illinois passed away Sunday, November 15, 2015 at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf, IA.
Funeral services are 10:30 a.m. Thursday, November 19th at the United Methodist Church, Joy, IL. Burial will be in Peniel Cemetery, Joy. Visitation is Wednesday, November 18th from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Dennison Funeral Home, Aledo. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left for Joy United Methodist Church, Keithsburg First Christian Church, Mercer County Food Pantry or a charity of choice.
Marguerite was born March 27, 1927 in Keithsburg, Illinois a daughter of Lorenzo C. and Sina Munson Hall. Prior to marriage, she worked at the button factory in Keithsburg and the glove factory in Aledo. On February 22, 1948, she married Lavern D. Nelson at the Keithsburg Christian Church. They were married until his death on August 22, 2007. Marguerite was a farm wife. She was a member of Joy United Methodist Church, where she was a past member of United Methodist Women and Golden Links.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children: Gloria Nelson, East Moline, IL, Donna (Rene) DeKeyrel, Illinois City, IL and Rita Nelson Herbert, Moline, IL; grandchildren: Jason Baraks, Ed DeKeyrel and Andy (Jodi) DeKeyrel and 4 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and siblings: Ruth Gaylor, Scott Hall, Lorenzo “Ranz” Hall, Belva Taylor, Kenneth “Rex” Hall, Keith “Allen” Hall, Ralph Hall and infant sister, Lavina Hall.
