Marcell G. Ripperger, 96, of Naples, Florida died Monday, September 2, 2013 in Naples.
Funeral Mass is 12:00 p.m. Monday, Sept. 9th, with visitation 1 hour prior, at St. John’s Catholic Church, Viola. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery, Viola, with graveside military rites. Memorials may be left for Mercer County V.F.W. Post 1571. Dennison Funeral Home, Viola is handling arrangments.
Marcell was born May 20, 1917 in Lacona, Iowa, a son of Phillip and Lora Bauer Ripperger. In 1942, he married Eleanora “Nora” Dittmer. She preceded him in death in 1985. Mr. Ripperger served in the Army and was stationed alongside the Seabee’s during World War II. He worked in the Foundry at International Harvester for 31 years, retiring in 1973. The Rippergers had lived in the Quad Cities area for many years before moving to Naples. Marcell enjoyed fishing and gardening, especially caring for his vegetables.
Those left to cherish his memory are his children: Larry (Edna) Ripperger, Dahinda, IL and Linda Ripperger, Plymouth, WI; granddaughter: Kate (Kevin) Socha and great grandchildren: Abbi, Brady and Trey, all living in England.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, 2 grandchildren Alec and Kristine and 12 siblings.
