Lula E. Brown, 86, of New Boston, Illinois died Thursday, January 5, 2012 at All American Care Center, Muscatine. Funeral services are 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 9, 2012 at New Boston United Methodist Church with Rev. Beth Nelson, officiating. Pallbearers are Montie Schell, Stacey Brown, Mick Nelson, Todd Nelson, Andy Sedam and Ryan Lincoln with John Terrill as honorary pallbearer. Burial will be in New Boston Cemetery. Visitation is 3:00 - 6:00 p.m. Sunday, January 8 at New Boston United Methodist Church. Memorials may be left for the church. Dennison Funeral Home, Aledo is handling arrangements. Lula was born November 24, 1925 in Tulsa, OK a daughter of Robert Samuel and Elsie (Wright) Ward. On May 1, 1942, she married Earl Brown, Sr. in Seattle, WA. He died January 30, 2000. Lu was a homemaker, raising not only her own children but all those in the neighborhood. She enjoyed gardening and embroidery. She had been a member of the New Boston American Legion Auxiliary, Royal Neighbors of America and the New Boston Methodist Church. Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Earl (Jeri) Brown, Jr., Alexis, IL, Michael Brown, Pawtucket, RI, Linda Perkins, New Boston, IL, Nancy (Larry) Meincke, New Boston, IL and Roxann Nelson, Keithsburg, IL; 11 grandchildren; numerous great and great great grandchildren; foster son, Robert James, Keithsburg and brother, Arthur Ward, Vista Verde, CA. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter Charlotte Fuller, grandsons Tim Terrill and Dean Nelson, 2 sisters, 2 brothers and a half brother.
