Lucille Matthews

Lucille M. Matthews, 85, of rural Milan, Illinois died Sunday, May 15, 2022 at Genesis East, Davenport.

Funeral services are Saturday, May 21st at 11:00 a.m., with visitation 1 hour prior, at New Boston United Methodist Church.  Burial will be in New Boston Cemetery.  Memorials may be left for the family.  Dennison Funeral Home, Aledo is handling arrangements.

Lucille Mary was born February 12, 1937 in Rock Island, Illinois the daughter of Eugene and Rose Pitsch Edwards.  On April 13, 1974, she married Denney Matthews in Aledo.  They liked to camp, fish, and go out to eat with family on their birthdays.  Lucille loved to read, especially Nicholas Sparks books and the Chicken Soup for the Soul series.  She enjoyed listening to 50’s music, especially barber shop quartets.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband:  Denney; children:  John Phillips and Judy Cheek; step-children:  Vickie Frakes, Keith Matthews, and Daniel Matthews; 12 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; 8 great great grandchildren; as well as siblings:  Joyce Edwards and Ronnie Edwards.

She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter:  Janet Jolly, and siblings:  Rosemond, Bob, Ray, Louie, and Kenneth.
