Lois Peterson

Lois I. Peterson, 74, of Matherville, left this earthly world to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, April 24, 2006, at Trinity Medical Center, West Campus, Rock Island. Services are 11 a.m. Thursday, April 27, at Boden Community Church, Boden. Burial is in Viola Cemetery. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at Dennison Funeral Home, Viola. A memorial is to be established later. She was born Oct. 4, 1931, in New Boston, a daughter of Walter and Jeanette Johnson Hays. She married Robert Wayne Peterson May 7, 1949, in Aledo. He preceded her in death in May 1972. She ran the Boden Sonoco from 1967-1983. Lois then worked at the Mercer County Nursing Home, Aledo, retiring in 2001. She enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family. She was a member at Boden Community Church, where she was active in the Ladies Aid and a former member of the church board. Survivors are daughter and son-in-law, Evelyn and Michael Sackfield, Matherville; son and daughter-in-law, Edwin and Paula Peterson, Viola; four grandchildren, Andrew and Angela Peterson, Silvis, Malissa Peterson, Viola, Matthew Peterson, Viola, T.J. Sackfield and Christine Flatley, Matherville; three great-grandchildren, Kallista Peterson, Braden Peterson and Ryan Sackfield; three brothers, Bill Hays, Matherville, Harvey Hays, Charlotte, N.C., and Jim Hays, St. Joseph, Mo.. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one son, Walter; and one brother, Ervin.
