Lila Selman
Lila M. Selman passed away peacefully, surrounded by family and friends, on Friday, February 26, 2016 at her home in Sherrard, Illinois, from a brave battle with pancreatic cancer.
Private family services were held, with burial in Sherrard Cemetery. Rev. Clint Ziemer of Cable Community Church officiated. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left in her name to Unity Point Hospice. Dennison Funeral Home, Viola assisted the family.
Lila was born December 31, 1945 in Empire, Alabama a daughter of Lester and Ruth Rhodes. She married Jack Selman on December 24, 1962 in Cullman, Alabama. Lila was employed by JJ Security at the Quad Cities Airport, Moline, Illinois. Above all, Lila loved her family; especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also enjoyed the many great adventures she went on with her friend, Geri Bristow.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband: Jack Selman, Sherrard, IL; children: Jackie (Mark) Davis, Milan, IL and Jerry Selman, Reynolds, IL; grandchildren: Nick (Amber) Davis, Drew (Brittany) Davis, Alex (Sarah) Davis, Ethan (Ashley) Selman, Emily Selman and Elysa Selman; great grandchildren: Josephine, Jackson, Miles, Layla, Lilly and Juliette and siblings: William Rhodes, Melvin Rhodes, Jeanette Williams and Johnny Rhodes, all of Alabama.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister: Bertha Shelton and great grandson: Jamison Davis.
