Lila M. Bloomfield, 85, Viola, died Friday, Feb. 17, 2006 at home. Funeral services were 11 a.m. Tuesday at Dennison Funeral Home in Viola. Officiated by John Mattingly, Joy First Baptist Church, with Rose Tary, organist and Jackie Mattingly, vocalist. Visitation was Monday, Feb. 20 from 4 - 7 p.m. at Dennison Funeral Home in Viola. Pallbearers were Drew Bloomfield; John Swank, Jeff Swank, Josh Rush, Jeff Rush, and Jaimie Ong, honorary pallbearers were her granddaughters. Interment was at the Aledo Cemetery. Memorials may go to 1st Baptist Church of Joy. She was born Aug. 18, 1920 in Alexis to Charles and Myrtle Hall Decker. She married John Swank, Feb. 25, 1939 in Aledo. He died in 1947. She then married Don Bloomfield, Dec. 12, 1949 in Mintipten, Iowa. He died in 1963. Lila was a seamstress for the Wells Lamont Glove factory, Aledo, in the 1940s and Formfit in Monmouth, for over 25 years, retiring in 1979. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, reading and sewing for other people. She was a member of the 1st Baptist Church of Joy. Lila is survived by her son, Charles Swank of Bellevue, Neb., Jim (Shirley) Swank of Owasso, Okla., Don (Debbie) Bloomfield of Geneseo, "adopted" daughter, Terri (Dan) Cavanah of Galesburg, 18 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter. Also, brothers Lyle Decker of Rock Island and Cletus Decker of Burlington, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Gary Swank, her husbands and four brothers.
