Lawrence Robert "Lossy" Anderson, 89, of Keithsburg, died Thursday, Oct. 8, 2009, at Monmouth Nursing Home. Services will be 3 p.m., with visitation one hour prior, Sunday, Oct. 11, at Keithsburg First Christian Church. Dennison Funeral Home, Aledo, is handling arrangements. Memorials may be made to Keithsburg Volunteer Fire and Ambulance Department. He was born Feb. 9, 1920, in Monmouth, the son of Charles and Minnie Munson Anderson. He married Mary L. Harvey Nov. 15, 1943, in Little York, Ill. He graduated from Monmouth High School in 1938. He farmed near Little York from 1938 until 1967, and then moved to Keithsburg, where he was manager and grain buyer for the elevator, retiring in 1985. Lossy was an avid collector of Indian artifacts and was a member of the Archeology Society of Illinois for many years. Survivors include his wife, Mary Anderson, Keithsburg; one daughter, Betty Smith, Keithsburg; two sons (and spouse), Charles Anderson, Little York, and Richard (Judy) Anderson, Cape Coral, Fla.; five granddaughters; seven great-grandchildren; and several stepgrandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, a brother and a nephew.
