LaVonda “Bonnie” Encapera, 90, of Milan, Illinois passed away Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at home.
Funeral services are 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 17th at Dennison Funeral Home, Viola. Burial will be in Farlow Grove Cemetery, Matherville. On Friday, October 16th, a rosary will be recited at 4:00 p.m., with visitation to follow until 7:00 p.m., at Dennison Funeral Home, Viola. Memorials may be left for local food pantries.
LaVonda “Bonnie” was born May 22, 1925 in Matherville, Illinois a daughter of Edmund Eli and Anna Sackfield Maynard. She was a cadet nurse during World War II, training at St. Anthony’s in Rock Island. She went on to be a Registered Nurse at various facilities across the country, retiring in 1987 from Oak Glen Nursing Home. On May 29, 1953, she married Angelo Encapera in Tucson, Arizona. She loved raising her children and grandchildren. Bonnie was a member of St. Ambrose Parish, Milan. She took great joy in working at food pantries and meal sites.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 62 years, Angelo Encapera, Milan, IL; children: Angela (Richard) Newton, Matherville, IL, Leslie Miller, Milan, IL, Michele (Craig) Spainhower, Florida and Milan, IL, Nicki Encapera, Rock Island, IL, Dea (Roger) Hargrave, Milan, IL, Michael Encapera, Anderson, IN, Steven (Natalie) Encapera, St. Jacobs, IL, Danise (Dave) Petsel, Iowa City, IA and Lee (Cheree) Encapera, Wichita, KS; 51 grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers: Dean, William and Pat Maynard and sisters: Alma Dowsett and Corlyn Miller.
