Laura M. Portugue, 62, of Viola, Illinois died Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at Trinity Rock Island.
Visitation is Sunday, December 18th from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. at Dennison Funeral Home, Viola. Memorial services are 10:00 a.m. on Monday, December 19th at Dennison Funeral Home, Viola. Private graveside services will be at a later date in Farlow Grove Cemetery, Matherville. Memorials may be left for her grandchildren’s college fund.
Laura was born June 24, 1954 in Moline, Illinois the daughter of Warren and Helen Smith Jones. On May 18, 1974, she married Daniel L. Portugue in Viola, Illinois. Laura was a stay at home mom who also cooked at several area restaurants over the years. She was a member of the Viola American Legion Auxiliary and Viola United Methodist Church. Laura’s life was all about family...her grandkids were her pride and joy and she cherished family gatherings and vacations. Laura and Dan loved their time spent in New Boston.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband: Dan Portugue, Viola, IL; daughters: Sarah Portugue, Solon, IA and Amy Zufall, Aledo, IL; grandchildren: Nathan and River; step-grandchildren: Colin, Erin, Ashlin and Kadin; and brothers: David and Howard Jones.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
