Kenneth "Sonny" Krengle

Kenneth L."Sonny" Krengle, 76, of New Boston, died Sunday, May 1, 2011, at home after a lengthy illness. Services are 1 p.m. Thursday, May 5, at New Boston United Methodist Church, with visitation from 11 a.m. until time of service.Burial is at New Boston Cemetery, with military rites conducted by Mercer County VFW Post 1571. Dennison Funeral Home, Aledo, is handling arrangements. Memorials may be made to the New Boston Community Center. He was born July 25,1934, in Frankfort, Ind., son of Kenneth E. and Bertie L. McClure Krengle. He married Agatha Julian in 1955. He married LuAnn Long Gipson in April, 1982. He worked at Ford Motor Stamping Plant in Chicago Heights for 30 years, retiring in 1986. Sonny worked for the city of New Boston as the park attendant for the Sturgeon Bay Park for one season. He enlisted in the Marine Corps on July 27, 1951, in San Diego, Calif., and was honorably discharged Jan. 21, 1953. Sonny enjoyed fishing, camping, yard work and most of all, NASCAR racing. He liked to restore old cars. After his retirement, he could always be found at the coffee shop seeing who could tell the biggest story. Survivors (and their spouses) include his wife, LuAnn Krengle, New Boston; daughters, Rhonda Wood, Beth Coleman and Jennifer Jones, all of Lawton, Okla.; stepdaughters, Vicki (Scott) Card, Nashville, Tenn., Debbie (Kim) DeYoung, St Anne, Ill., and Melanie Wilson, New Boston; stepsons, Steven (Conda) Julian and Jay (Hilary) Gipson, New Boston; eight grandchildren; eight stepgrandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 12 stepgreat-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and good friends, Jim and Pat Anderson. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Brian; two grandsons, Wade Nelson and Dustin Glaze; and brother, Jerry.
