Kathryn Briggs

Kathryn M. Briggs, 92, of New Boston, Illinois passed away Friday, February 10, 2012 at Mercer County Nursing Home, Aledo. Funeral services are Tuesday, February 14, 2012 at noon with visitation 1 hour prior at New Boston United Methodist Church. Burial will be in New Boston Cemetery. Memorials may be left for the New Boston United Methodist Church, New Boston Cemetery or Mercer County Nursing Home. Dennison Funeral Home, Aledo is handling arrangements. Kathryn was born October 14, 1919 in New Boston a daughter of George and Anna Mae Inman King. On September 18, 1945, she married Eli Briggs in Keithsburg. He preceded her in death on June 3, 1983. Mrs. Briggs worked at Curtis Grocery in New Boston for several years. She also helped her husband with their trucking and corn shelling business and on their farm. She was a member of the New Boston United Methodist Church, V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary and Royal Neighbors. She enjoyed playing bingo and going on bus trips. Survivors include her 3 sisters, Leona Willits, Aledo, Anna Belle Talbot and Cheryl Lane, both of New Boston; 2 brothers and sisters-in-law, George and Ernestine King, New Boston and John and Barb King, Lowden, IA and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 2 sisters and 4 brothers.
