Katherine Smith

Katherine Ann "Kathy" Smith, age 55, of Viola, Illinois died Monday, February 13, 2006 at her home. Services are 10:00 AM Thursday, February 16, 2006 at Dennison Funeral Home, Viola. Inurnment will be at a later date in Viola Cemetery. Visitation is 4:00 - 8:00 PM Wednesday, February 15, 2006 at Dennison Funeral Home, Viola. Memorials may be left for the family for a memorial to be established. Kathy was born December 5, 1950 in Galesburg, Illinois to Richard and Marjorie (Reynolds) Larson. She graduated from Winola High School in 1968. She married Stephen Lee Smith on August 23, 1969 in Viola, Illinois. Kathy owned Design Wall Printing for 25 years. She painted the interior of houses but, also found time to be a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. She was an avid fisherman, especially enjoying her trips to Canada. She loved the outdoors, from arrowhead to mushroom hunting or collecting rocks and sticks (which she some how made into something amazing). She also enjoyed gardening, flowers and antiques. She is survived by her husband, Steve Smith, Viola; three children, Kevin and Jennifer Smith, Orion, Katrina Smith and fiance Tim Wingert, East Moline and Krista and Toby Washburn, St. Augustine, FL; three grandchildren, Aubrie Lynn Wingert, Mackenzie Marie Smith and Kaleb Todd Smith; a brother, Richard "Dick" Larson, New Windsor and her step father, Jim Broadus, New Windsor. She was preceded in death by her mother and father.
