Karen Peterson

Karen Peterson, 55, of Joy, died Thursday, Sept. 29, 2011, at St. Mary's, Galesburg. Services are 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 4, 2011 at Keithsburg First Christian Church. Burial is at Greenmound Cemetery, Keithsburg. Visitation is 5-7 p.m. Monday at the church. Memorials may be left for the family. She was born Jan. 13, 1956, in Davenport, to Daniel and Helen Bates. She married Gene Peterson March 5, 1983. Karen was the manager at the Keithsburg Senior Center. She also was a bus driver for Westmer then Mercer County Schools. Prior to that, she worked at Canon Bronze, Keithsburg. Karen enjoyed making rugs. She had a love for Christmas time, especially after she had grandkids. Surviving are her husband; daughter, Stacey Peterson, Joy; sons, Dan Calhoun, Davenport, and Timothy Peterson, East Moline; grandchildren, Izabella and Emmalee Calhoun and Zachery Peterson; brothers, Donald Bates, Oskaloosa, Iowa, Jim, David and Jeff Bates, all of Davenport.
