J. Robert Kelley, 90, formerly of Valparaiso, Ind., died Thursday, July 2, 2009, at Aledo Health and Rehab. Services are 1 p.m. Monday, July 6, at Dennison Funeral Home, Aledo, with visitation from 11 a.m to 1 p.m. Burial is at Aledo Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or American Cancer Society. He was born April 30, 1919, in Gary, Ind., the son of George and Pearl Kelley. He married Ruth Craig Dec. 20, 1940, in Old Hickory, Tenn. She preceded him in death July 4, 2006. Mr. Kelley was a heater for Inland Steel Co., Hammond, Ind., for over 46 years, retiring in 1985. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, swimming and was an avid Kentucky Wildcats fan. Bob was active in the Church of Christ for 65 years. He was a member of Vale Church of Christ, Valparaiso, where he served as elder and Sunday school teacher. Survivors include two sons (and spouses), R. Craig (Kathy) Kelley, Alexis, and Michael S. (Caryn) Kelley, Great Falls, Va.; six grandchildren, Kim Wolfram, Davenport, Heidi (Kris) Hess, Aledo, Stacy Kelley, Mt. Juliet, Tenn., Shannon Kelley, San Diego, Calif., Shawn and Shana Kelley, both of Levon, Calif.; 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.
