Joyce A. McMeekan, 88, of Viola, Illinois died Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at Genesis Medical Center, Aledo.
Visitation is Thursday, June 22nd from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Dennison Funeral Home, Viola. Private graveside services will be held in Viola Cemetery. Memorials may be left for Viola Fire Department.
Joyce was born February 14, 1929 in Galesburg, Illinois a twin daughter of Charles and Edna Tollbom Morrow. On September 9, 1955, she married Glen McMeekan in Chicago. He preceded her in death on February 20, 1998. Joyce had worked at Servus Rubber and Admiral, leaving Admiral to help with the family business. Later she worked as a CNA at Mercer County Nursing Home. Joyce enjoyed going for rides, spending time with family and adored her dog, Charlie.
Those left to cherish her memory are her sons and daughters-in-law: Bill and Mary McMeekan, Chuck and Nancy McMeekan, all of Viola, IL and Jim and Lisa McMeekan, Port Byron, IL; 6 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, twin sister: Joan Nicholas, sister: Margaret Stephenson and grandson: Mark Kernan.
