Joyce Marie Dixon, 74, of Aledo, Illinois died Thursday, September 12, 2013 at Genesis Senior Living in Aledo.
Memorial services are 11:00 a.m. Monday, Sept. 16th, with visitation 1 hour prior, at Dennison Funeral Home, Aledo. Burial will be at a later date in Peniel Cemetery, Joy. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left for the family.
Joyce was born April 23, 1939 in Boone County, Nebraska, the daughter of Arthur and Alice Nelson Munson of Genoa, Nebraska. Joyce graduated from Joy High School then married Richard (Dub) Dixon on August 17, 1957. They later divorced on August 21, 1978. Joyce was a house wife and raised her two boys until she went to work in the kitchen at Mercer County Hospital until her retirement. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, especially visiting with her good friends Shirley and Barb. She loved going to visit and staying with her sisters. Joyce was a kind hearted and loving person, who will be deeply missed.
Survivors include her sons: Dennis (Penny) Dixon, New Boston, and Rodney (Lisa) Dixon, Aledo; grandchildren: Josh, Brad and Derek Dixon and Chris and Alex Dixon; 5 great grandchildren and sister: Lucille Middlen.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Allan, and sisters Dorothy, Betty, Norma and Joan.
