John Bailey Dunham, 73, of New Boston, Illinois died Thursday, June 2, 2011 at his home. Funeral service is 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 6, 2011 at New Boston United Methodist Church with Rev. Beth Nelson officiating. Pallbearers are Jacob Dunham, Marco Dunham, Tim Nielsen, Todd Nielsen, Joshua Goff and Drew Dunham. Honorary pallbearers are Richard Jeffers, Jim Giles, Gary Coulter, Kenneth Barman, Lee Jeffers and Chuck Baldwin. Burial will be in New Boston Cemetery. Visitation is Sunday, June 5, 2011 from 2:00 - 5:00 p.m. at the church. Memorials may be left for Beacon of Hope Hospice or New Boston United Methodist Church. Dennison Funeral Home, Aledo is handling arrangements. The only child of Carl and Opal (Sines) Dunham, John was born March 27, 1938 in Leon, West Virginia. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1956-1962. He married Janet Anne Jeffers on May 22, 1957 in Carpenter, OH. They moved to the New Boston area in 1967, where Mr. Dunham was a farmer. He enjoyed Blue Grass music, camping and learning about history. He served two terms on the Westmer School Board. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife: Janet A. Dunham, New Boston, IL; children: Connie E. Goff, Des Moines, IA, Yvonne O. (Steve) Nielsen, Springfield, IL, John C. (Lisa) Dunham, New Boston, IL and Richard L. (Kathy) Dunham, Illinois City, IL; 12 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and granddaughter, Bailey Dunham.
