JoAnne Houdyshell, 57, of rural Aledo, died Saturday, Oct. 27, 2007, at her home. Services are 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 30, at Dennison Funeral Home, Viola. Following services, cremation rites will be accorded. Burial will be at a later date. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. She was born July 13, 1950, in Sandwich, Ill., the daughter of Stanley and Jane Naker Sleezer. She married James F. Houdyshell Jr. June 21, 1969, in Rock Island. JoAnne had been a nurse at Mercer County Hospital and most recently at Orthopaedic and Rheumatology Associates, Moline. Mrs. Houdyshell enjoyed the outdoors, traveling, reading, crocheting and crossword puzzles. She loved spending time with her grandchildren. She was a member of Preemption United Methodist Church. She leaves behind her beloved husband of 39 years, James; their five children, Annette, Angela, Jackalynn, Valerie and James; six grandchildren, Samuel, Nathan, Ryan, Giana, Serena and Raeonna; her mother, Jane; and four siblings, Pat, Mike, Larry and Ruth. She was preceded in death by her father; granddaughter, Arya; and brother, Daniel.
