Jean Ziemer

Jean M. Ziemer, 94, of Viola, Illinois passed away Saturday, August 27, 2022 at Brookstone of Aledo.

Cremation has been accorded.  Private family graveside services will be held at a later date in Viola Cemetery.  Memorials may be left for Mercer County Y.M.C.A.  Dennison Funeral Home, Viola is handling arrangements.

Jean was born July 9, 1928 at home in Cable, Illinois the daughter of Henry and Sadie Lawrence Bell.  She graduated from Sherrard High School in 1946.  On August 10, 1946 she married Harry “Spud” Ziemer in Cable.  They were married until he passed away June 24, 1985.  Jean worked as the head of housekeeping at Mercer County Hospital for a number of years.  She was very proud of being a charter member of Viola American Legion Auxiliary.  Jean was a 25 year member of the Y.M.C.A., where she conquered her fear of water when she learned to swim at age 65.  She enjoyed working puzzle books.  Her greatest joy was time spent with family.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children:  Nancy (Jim) Adams of Polo, Illinois and Jeffrey (Deb Barnes) Ziemer of Matherville, Illinois; grandchildren:  Jessi (Leigh) Skelton of Cordova, Illinois, Abigail (Tony) Magnafici of Wheaton, Illinois, Vanessa Ziemer of New York City, and Vanna Ziemer of Wyoming; great grandchildren:  Spencer, Eben, Ravyn, Jacob, Everleigh, and Lucas; and great great grandson:  Drew.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and an entire generation of family members as she was the last to pass away.
