Janis M. Ruggles, 75, of Aledo, Illinois died Thursday, December 24, 2015 at Genesis Senior Living, Aledo, Illinois.
Per her wishes, there are no services. Dennison Funeral Home, Aledo is assisting the family.
Memorials may be left, in her name, to the Mercer County Animal Shelter.
Janis was born April 8, 1940 in Andalusia, Illinois a daughter of Barnard and Sadie Ott Hall. For 15 years, she worked as a nurse’s aide at Mercer County Hospital, Aledo. Prior to that, she had worked in Aledo at Stuts Drug Store, Betty Lou’s Flower Shop and had owned/operated Fosters Flower Shop. She was a member of the former Aledo Moose Lodge. Janis loved art, she was a talented painter and enjoyed being outdoors, gardening.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children: Julie Ricketts, Aledo, IL and Derwood K. Ruggles, Jr., Black Hawk, SD and her grandchildren: Scott and Shannon Ricketts.
She was preceded in death by her parents and several brothers and sisters.
