Jane Crummy, 91, of Viola, Illinois died Tuesday, February 12, 2013 at Genesis Medical Center, Aledo.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, Feb.16th at St. John’s Catholic Church, Viola. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery, Viola. Visitation is Friday, Feb. 15th from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m., with rosary recited at 7:00 p.m., at Dennison Funeral Home, Viola. Memorials may be left for St. John Cemetery Perpetual Care Fund.
Jane was born November 17, 1921 to Walter and Edith Stevenson Allen. She was born and raised in New Windsor and attended schools there. Her senior year the family moved and she graduated from Oxford Township High School, Alpha in 1939. On January 1, 1941, she married Leo Crummy at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Davenport, Iowa. He preceded her in death on Feb. 27, 1982. She took great pride in assisting Leo in their family business, Crummy Funeral Homes. Jane enjoyed playing cards and loved to travel. She travelled extensively, visiting Hawaii many times and even went overseas. She was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church and it’s Altar and Rosary Society.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children (spouses): Sonja (Max) Jones, Greenup, IL, Nancy (Ed) Michur, Blue Grass, IA, Teresa (Steve) Mason, Fountain Valley, CA, Mike Crummy, New Windsor, IL and Jeff (Darlene) Crummy, Viola; 13 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, her twin sister Jean and sisters Delores and Maxine.
