Jack Selman

Jack A. Selman, 91, of Sherrard, Illinois died Wednesday, August 2, 2023 at Genesis Illini Campus, Silvis with his children by his side.

Graveside services are 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 9^th at Sherrard Cemetery.  Dennison Funeral Home, Viola is handling arrangements.

Jack was born January 7, 1932 in Townley, Alabama the son of Albert Lee and Rose Savannah Jones Selman.  On December 24, 1962, he married Lila M. Rhodes in Cullman, Alabama.  They were married nearly 54 years before Lila passed on February 26, 2016.  Jack worked over 30 years at Farmall, retiring in 1984.  After retirement, he owned/operated two bars in Milan… The Wet Spot and Jack’s Beltway Tap.  He enjoyed hunting and fishing, just being outdoors.  Jack had an extensive garden, abundant with fresh produce.  His greatest joy was time spent with family, especially his grandkids.

Those left to cherish his memory are his children:  Jackie (Mark) Davis of Milan and Jerry Selman (Lisa Meirhaeghe) of Orion; grandchildren:  Nick (Amber) Davis, Drew (Brittany) Davis, Alex (Sarah) Davis, Ethan (Ashley) Selman, Emily (Gwain) Robinson, Elysa Selman, Hope Meirhaeghe, and Denise Meirhaeghe; great grandchildren:  Josephine, Jackson, Miles, Layla, Lilly, Juliette, Ivan, Payton, and Hunter; and brother:  Jimmy Selman.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife; great grandson:  Jamison Davis; and siblings:  Virgie Dale, NC, WB, Tom, AJ, Major, Billy Joe, Bobby, Donald, Dalton, Becky, and Betty.
