Jack L. Dowsett, 80, of Viola, Illinois, died Thursday, January 7, 2021 at Select Specialty Hospital in Davenport.
Per his wishes, cremation has been accorded and a celebration of Jack’s life will be held at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the family for a memorial to be established. Jack was born to Willard and Alma (Maynard) Dowsett on August 31, 1940 in Gilchrist, Illinois. He graduated from Winola High School in 1958, and was drafted into the United States Army, serving from 1963-1965. Jack worked for John Deere for 25 years, retiring in 1999. Jack was a true outdoorsman, especially enjoying bow hunting, fishing, and boating. His greatest joy was time spent with friends and family, especially his grandson Kaleb with whom he had a special bond.
Those left to cherish Jack’s memory are his children: Lance Dowsett of Viola and Dawn Dowsett of Milan; grandson Kaleb Dowsett; sister Bonnie Dowsett of Minneapolis, MN, nieces and nephews, and many friends who Jack considered family.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Raymond Dowsett.
Jack’s wit, unending love for his friends and family, his zest for life, his endearing nature, and his constant smile will be missed by all who knew him.
