Ida Helen Creek, 98, of New Windsor, Illinois died Sunday, March 23, 2014 at Hope Creek Care Center, East Moline.

Funeral services are 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 27, 2014 at New Windsor United Presbyterian Church.  Burial will be in New Windsor (Petrie) Cemetery.  Visitation is Wednesday, March 26 th from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Dennison Funeral Home, Viola.  Memorials may be left for the family.

Ida Helen was born August 27, 1915 in Luray, Missouri a daughter of Rex and Carrie Bell LaLone Watson.  She graduated from high school in Luray.  On August 10, 1939 she married Abram Edson “Red” Creek in Kahoka, Missouri.  He preceded her in death on Nov. 24, 1985.  In her early years, Helen worked in a garment factory as a seamstress then later as a sales clerk at Tagues Dry Goods in New Windsor before becoming a homemaker.  During the 1950’s, she and Red owned the Java Joint in New Windsor.  She was a member of New Windsor United Presbyterian Church and enjoyed it’s senior citizens group.  Helen also enjoyed camping, going to her grandkids ball games and attending the ladies card club in New Windsor.  She was an expert seamstress, loved tending to her flower gardens and had an extensive cat collection.  Helen was a talented poet, and wrote for every occasion.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Cama (Floyd) Creger of Sherrard, IL, Cara Myers of Sherrard, IL and David (Connie) Creek of Fond du Lac, WI; 7 grandchildren, Mark, Craig and Tonya all of Fond du Lac, WI, Melissa of Viola, IL, Heather of Sherrard, IL, Monte of Peoria, IL and Daniel of Brookfield, WI; 9 great grandchildren and 4 step great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and brother Richard Watson.
