Harold Morrison, 81, of Viola, Illinois died Monday, July 8, 2019 at Trinity Rock Island.
Visitation is Friday, July 12th from 3:00 -7:00 p.m. at Dennison Funeral Home, Viola. Funeral services are Saturday, July 13th at 11:00 a.m. at New Windsor Presbyterian Church, followed by a luncheon at the church. A private family burial will be in Viola Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Andrew Hofer, Matthew Hofer, Andrew Steiner, Jacob Abrahamson, Nic Norberg ad Zach Meyers. Memorials may be left for Viola Fire Department or New Windsor Presbyterian Church.
Harold was born June 25, 1938 in Rock Island, Illinois the son of Harold and Helen Reed Morrison. He was a 1956 graduate of Aledo High School. On June 10, 1960 he married Sandra Lemon in Aledo. For 25 years, Harold was a loyal local business owner of Harold’s Market in Viola. He was very dedicated to serving his community. Harold was instrumental in starting Mercer County Church Softball League. Over the years he had served on Aledo City Council, Aledo and Winola School Board, Charter President of Viola Chamber of Commerce and was Co-Chairman of Viola Sesquicentennial in 2006. He currently served on the Mercer County Housing Authority Board. Harold was an active member of New Windsor Presbyterian Church, where he served as an elder.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife: Sandy Morrison, Viola; children: Rebecca (Gary) Hofer, Sherrard, Melissa Abrahamson, East Moline and James (Amy) Morrison, Viola; grandchildren: Andrew, Laura Steiner, Matthew and Bethany Hofer, Ashley and Jacob Abrahamson and Kaylie and Korie Morrison; great grandchildren: Micah, Savannah and Lilah Hofer, Charlotte and Ruthie Steiner and Hannah Hofer; brother: Joe Morrison, Bishop Hill, sister: Mary Sue Morrison, Rockford, mother-in-law: Marge Goding, Aledo and special friend of the family: B.J. Pedersen, Rockford.
He was preceded in death by his parents, father-in-law: Andy Lemon and sister-in-law: Ann Morrison.
