Harold Epperson

Harold Lee Epperson, 82, of New Windsor, Illinois passed away unexpectedly at St. Mary’s Galesburg on Tuesday, August 23, 2022.

Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 2:00 p.m., on Saturday, August 27^th at Dennison Funeral Home, Viola.  Burial will follow at New Windsor Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left for the family.

Harold Lee was born July 9, 1940 in Hannibal, Missouri to Harold C. and Anna Lea Tapley Epperson.  He graduated from New London, Missouri High School.  Harold married Bonnie Groves, together they raised 4 children, they later divorced.  On October 12, 1995, he married Betty Marie Kuchirka Powell in Cambridge.  Harold retired from John Deere after 30 years of service.  He enjoyed the outdoors as well as going to flea markets, yard sales, and toy and tractor shows.  He was a hobby farmer, who enjoyed tending to his garden and raising animals… from pot belly pigs and goats to chickens, ducks, and geese.  His greatest joy was time spent with family, especially with his grandkids and great grandkids.

Those left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife:  Betty Epperson; children:  Gary “Pete” (Cindy) Epperson, Darla (Darren) Borders, Deena Adams, and Jeremy “Buddy” (Megan) Epperson; step-children:  William Powell II, and Aaron Powell; step son-in-law:  Scott Sherbeyn; 15 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; siblings:  Gary (Mary) Epperson, Donna (Mike) Coons, and Elma “Edie” Henderson; and sister-in-law:  MaryAnn (Dan) Kipp.

He was preceded in death by his parents, step-daughter:  Colleen Sherbeyn, and brothers:  Denny and Roy Epperson, as well as an infant brother, Donald.
